Brookline Awards 9-1-1 Contract to Fallon Ambulance
BROOKLINE AND MILTON, MA, ISSUED AUGUST 8, 2004…Fallon Ambulance Service, a three-generation, family-operated ambulance service with headquarters in Milton, has been awarded a three-year contract, with the option for 2 additional years, to provide 9-1-1 municipal and ambulance services for the town of Brookline. The 68-year old company originally won the contract in 1998 and has provided service for the past six years. Under the new contract Fallon Ambulance Service will continue to be responsible for all 911 responses for Brookline, providing 24-hour Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedic service. The firm works closely with both the Brookline Police and Fire Departments and receives medical direction from area hospitals.
“They are unequalled, Fallon’s performance has been so spectacular in Brookline that the town redefined the service contract to extend it up to 5 years,” said Brookline Town Administrator Richard Kelleher. Their response time and quality service to our citizens has secured their position in our town. In addition, the defibrillator program and in-service training for public safety personnel would be lacking without their persistent attention and dedication. Brookline’s vote of confidence is with Fallon.”
Brookline is a community of 57,000 residents and Peter Racicot, Senior Vice President of Business Development for Fallon Ambulance Service, estimates that service to Brookline requires over 3,000 transports per year for municipal emergency medical responses. Under the provisions of the agreement, Fallon Ambulance Service will receive medical direction from and work with the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, as well as the Brookline Fire and Police Departments. An Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance is garaged 24-hours per day at the town’s fire station on Washington Street and additional ambulances are also dispatched as required.
Racicot said, “It is our privilege to continue to work with the people of Brookline. We are committed to providing professional emergency medical service to the communities we serve, and we are pleased to continue our partnership with the Brookline Police and Fire Departments in this important relationship.”
Racicot added, “We understand the responsibility of providing superior care and quick response time. We will continue to work hard to be worthy of the confidence and trust that the town has placed in us.”
For more than four decades of its 68-year history, Fallon’s headquarters have been located at 95 Eliot Street, Milton. Effective in the Fall of 2004, the company will relocate their corporate headquarters to 111 Brook Road, West Quincy; the former home of New England Steel Tank.
“Our current headquarters will still be used by our company for our Milton presence,” stated Racicot, adding, “But we have outgrown the space and know that this new facility will help us better serve our communities and clients.”
Their new facility will be approximately three times the size they currently occupy. Fallon Ambulance is investing $3 million to refurbish the building, which, when completed, will consist of 43,000 square feet of space on a 70,000 square foot lot.
Fallon Ambulance Service was founded in 1936 by James R. Fallon, Sr., and has remained a family operated business to this day. The founder’s son, James R.
