Fallon Ambulance Wins Five Year 9-1-1 Contract For Milton
Milton, MA, Issued April 21,1999. Fallon Ambulance Service has been awarded a five-year contract to continue 911 ALS (Advanced Life Support) and EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) service for the town of Milton. The 63 year old, three-generation, family-owned ambulance service has been the town's 911 provider since 1991.
Under the terms of the contract, Fallon Ambulance will provide the municipal service at no charge to the town; ambulance rides are typically paid from the patient's insurance policies.
Tim Fallon, Chief Operating Officer, said that extensions of contracts typically follow a statistical review that examines specific aspects of emergency medical response. This includes statistical data such as average response time per call, number of trips made, and the recommendation of the Chief of Police.
"We are delighted in the vote of confidence extended to us by the Milton Board of Selectmen, the Chief of Police, and the town," Fallon said. He noted, "We owe much of our success and growth to the town of Milton, which gave us our first municipal contract in 1991. Without their confidence and support, we would not have grown at the pace and level that we have."
Since first winning the Milton contract, Fallon Ambulance has expanded its coverage to provide municipal services to Brookline, Quincy, Dedham and Braintree, and is currently evaluating proposals for several other municipalities.
Fallon Ambulance provides a number of services for the town of Milton above and beyond the traditional 911 response duties. In addition to routine cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training for the Milton Police Department, Fallon Ambulance provides EMT training for the department's cadets. These are generally college students between the ages of 18 and 25, who assist in a variety of tasks at the police station, but who have had no formal training in emergency medical procedures. The additional, advanced training will enable the cadets to provide greater, immediate assistance should they receive an emergency call.
